Home Our Experience Nuclear Dosimetric Bio-analysis by Bio-removal

With the company's background of specialisation and constant innovation, in 2007 the radiochemistry lab began a process of fine-tuning the bioanalysis lab, which specialises in measuring radioactivity in the human body from urine and faeces samples.

In 2010 the Nuclear Security Council issued a licence for Tecnatom's internal personnel dosage service, appointing DRACE GEOCISA's radiochemistry lab to be responsible for performing the necessary analytical measurements, based on indirect measurement of activity in the body by bio-elimination. The measurements carried out at this laboratory are:

  1. Measuring americium, uranium, curium and plutonium isotopes in urine samples.
  2. Measuring strontium and tritium in urine samples.
  3. Measuring creatinine in urine samples.
  4. Measuring americium, uranium, curium and plutonium isotopes in faeces.

Since 2011 the lab has been functioning with weekly measurements of samples, participating since that date in international reference inter-comparisons organised annually by PROCORAD, with highly satisfactory results.
